Gerald William Trainor (born January 21, 1977)[1] is an American actor, comedian and musician. He is known for his roles in the Nickelodeon presentations Drake & Josh as "Crazy" Steve, iCarly as Spencer Shay, for which he won 3 Kids' Choice Awards, and T.U.F.F. Puppy as Dudley Puppy, for which he received a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award.

Since 2004, Trainor has labored primarily at the Nickelodeon community. Outside of this, he has had recurring and visitor roles on younger adult-oriented displays at the Disney Channel and Netflix in addition to in more mature displays like Crossing Jordan and a pair of Broke Girls.

Early life and schooling

Trainor was born and raised in San Diego, California, the son of Bill Trainor, a retired Navy fighter pilot and public defender, and Madelyn (née McNenly) Trainor, a retired highschool calculus instructor. He is of Irish descent.[2]

Trainor grew up in the San Diego community of Scripps Ranch and attended the University of San Diego High School.[3] He studied drama on the University of California, Santa Barbara.[1] He studied improvisation at the The Groundlings faculty in Los Angeles. Before turning into an actor, he labored at SeaWorld San Diego.[4]

Career

His first television role was within the MTV sequence Undressed as Eric. Some of his other television credit include Law & Order True Crime, Angel, and Malcolm within the Middle. Since 2018, Trainor and Mike O'Gorman have starred in a comedy internet sequence called The Porch, which will also be discovered on YouTube.
